bala has released their 2nd single “Heavenly”, a collaboration with the international producer BODYSYNC|The music video has also been released.

Tokyo-based girls’ artist and creator collective bala released their 2nd single “Heavenly” on June 2.

The track is a disco-house tune with a ’90s flavor produced by BODYSYNC, a project by Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth, known for collaborations with artists like Joji and Mitski, and Giraffage, a producer/beat-maker based in San Francisco. The song is a dreamy and euphoric dance-pop number, highlighting their girly and bubblegum side.

The melody and lyrics were handled by YUPPA (HNC), who has worked on many solo projects for MANON. Additionally, continuing from the previous release, the cover artwork direction and 3D graphics were created by bala crew members DAN and KANO.

It’s worth noting that the song “Heavenly” was played during BODYSYNC’s first visit to Japan, as part of their debut live performance this weekend.

The music video was directed by ufo (Yuuho), a member of the digital creative crew OFBYFOR TOKYO.

“I expressed the dual nature of the cute and crazy bala members through two different worlds: ‘Heaven’ and ‘Party.’ In Heaven, it’s soft, precious, and a bit surreal. In reality, it’s happy, poppy, and a bit crazy. No matter the world, they are the real themselves. The highlight is the fun time the four of them spend in their respective spaces, and the connection between the two worlds,” commented ufo on the music video.

A collaboration project between electronic producers Ryan Hemsworth and Giraffage. Over the past decade, these two producers have released highly acclaimed albums and EPs on labels such as Fool’s Gold, Last Gang, and Counter Records, as well as self-produced works. They have worked with artists like Joji, Mitski, E-40, and Doss, and have created official remixes for Carly Rae Jepsen, Porter Robinson, ODESZA, Lana Del Ray, among others. Their work has amassed over 200 million streams across all platforms.
